DIY Face Scrub

Over the past few weeks I’ve been using this face-scrub to wash my face once or twice a week and let me just say that, I’ve been getting a lot of compliments on my skin complexion. I’ve also been noticing how my makeup applies more smoothly and looks way more natural and it also has an even texture and finish.

I have read a lot and lots of home-made recipes over the past years, and one day I was home getting a “at-home-spa-day” and wondered around the kitchen and found the most basic and right on hand ingredients, so without more further ado, let’s jump into the ingredients and it’s benefits!

What you’ll need:

  • Olive oil
  • Sugar
  • Face Soap
  • Mixing bowl

Olive Oil: Rich in vitamins, minerals and natural fatty acids. It’s also convenient for a sensitive skin. Is also a powerful ingredient of anti-aging skin care products; rich in antioxidants, it prevents skin aging, the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, it also nourishes, rejuvenates and protects the skin, rich in vitamin E and A, olive oil helps prolong youth, hydrates the skin, maintains its elasticity and softness. Also, olive oil helps skin cells to regenerate.

Granulated Sugar: Sugar’s small particles make an excellent topical exfoliant, and are used in a number of body scrubs to exfoliate dead surface skin cells and reveal the glowing, healthy-looking skin underneath; sugar is also a natural humectant; sugar helps encouraging the cell turnover and generating fresher, younger-looking skin.

Unscented Soap:  Prevents irritation ans allergies, it also help to cleanse and remove impurities from the skin. PicMonkey Collage

1. Gather all of the ingredients, an empty bowl, and place a towel underneath of them to create a designated area for you to make the DIY mess-free.

2. Pour some liquid soap into the bowl, about two quarter sizes.

3. Pour the sugar into the bowl until it covers the soap.

4.Pour some olive oil, until you cover the sugar don’t make it over flow, remember it has to have a thick consistency .

5. Mix your little concoction of healthy ingredients

6. Stop when you reach this kind of consistency; Make sure to not over mix, otherwise you’ll start dissolving the sugar and it will defeat it’s purpose as an exfoliant.PicMonkey Collage2

Once you’ve created the perfect consistency, damp your face with warm water and let the scrubbing begin. I usually stop until the sugar it’s dissolved witch really doesn’t take more than 5 minutes tops.

Rinse with warm water and proceed to wash your face with a regular gentle cleanser to get rid of the sugar residue on your face and after rinse with cold water to close up your pores and avoid any creation of dark circles.

I’ll leave you guys here pictures of the application process  and after result! :). Don’t forget to let me know if you tried it and what are your thoughts on this DIY. Also, let me know if you like this kind of blog and tell us what would you like to see next!. Until next time..

Review: Clean and Clear Advantage Acne Control Kit

My least favorite thing about my skin it’s acne! If something new comes out to the market targeted for acne, bet that I will try it.
Salicylic Acid and Benzoyl Peroxide are two of the major over the counter approved ingredients for treating acne effectively, the Clean and Clear Advantage Acne control kit has it both in the kit and let me tell you, It’s a great combination.WP_000674
This is not like every acne control kit that has a soap, toner and moisturizer. This doesn’t has a toner and instead you get a Spot Treatment, I found this a little odd when I first got it, but I went ahead and used it. With the first few applications, my skin felt very clean and soft; they claim to “give you a clearer skin in as little as ! day of use” That wasn’t for me totally true, but I did find that my pimples were becoming a little smaller and more “cured” If I may call it like that.
I’ve been using the kit for a little over 4 months now, and I can totally feel the difference, I don’t miss wearing a toner anymore, and my acne it’s controlled but I still have the occasional or hormonal pimple, that I fight with the Spot Treatment, Just for as an update I still have acne dark spots, but it’s getting better and better as the time pass.
Now that you’ve read my overall thoughts on the Kit let me go a little more in-depth with each one of them.

Acne Control Cleanser

This product contaWP_000675ins as Active component: Benzoyl Peroxide Acne (10%), Benzoyl Peroxide usually comes 1%, 2% & 5% of strength, so this particular product it’s really strong and it’s supposed to work faster; this was also designed to remain on your skin and keep working after you wash it off and go on with your day.

If you have very sensitive skin, you will dry up; I have combination to dry skin now and when I use this, the side of my cheeks tents to get really dry, and sometimes may peel a little, but it’s not really bad I just make sure to put extra moisture on the sensitive areas. Also your skin get a little more vulnerable to the sunlight when you start using this product, and the use of sunscreen is recommended.

Love it or Hate it?! I Do love this product it has been working wonders on my skin, it helped keeping away acne from my face, and getting rid of the pimple I already had. So this is a total love!

Salicylic Acid Acne Medication Moisturizer

The Active Ingredient for this product is Salicylic Acid, This it actually can penetrate into the pore to dissolve dead skin cell build up and encourages the shedding of the top layer of skin which prevents the pores from becoming congested.  This makes it perfect for fighting acne easier; I actually think that this is nor moisturizing enough and if you have really dry skin this may not suit you well, you might have to reapply it thought the day or put on a second layer of it before applying your makeup.

Love it or hate it?! NONE! I like the product because it has a lot of benefits if you use it daily, but as I mentioned before, it’s not moisturizing enough for me and after I wash my face my skin it’s so dry and I have to reapply a 2nd layer and if you are in a rush at morning it can be a little annoying. Aside of that I like the product a lot.

Fast Acting Spot Treatment

At first I really hated it, because I thought I wasn’t doing anything for me, but now as the time passed, I’ve been using up the products and my skin has gotten a lot better; Now if a get a new pimple, I apply it on top and it does wonders for me, it diminishes the size of the pimple and it helps it get less red and better. I found that it’s better if you apply it after you moisturized instead of before moisturizer, that’s just my personal preference.

Love it Or Hate it?! Love It! a big miracle in a tiny tube.

Thank you so much for reading, give us your feedback in the comment section and let us know what other thing would you like to see in the blog!
